Beginning with a Dot

Adult - child interaction through a book.

The challenge was in being able to create a space that allowed children and adults to interact with one another using the book as a means to explore a different way of seeing. The final product was designed as a workbook that allowed a child to pick up a pencil or crayon and begin mark-making in the book itself. The book also includes annotations for the child that animate Tarit Bhattacharjee's body of work. The workbook addresses the interested adult too, talking about the larger ideas that shape it and the ways in which to navigate through each section. The Gallery section uses Tarit's more complex pieces of work to illustrate the ideas in each section, giving the reader a glimpse of the myriad possibilities.
